Project Vidyarthi

“Children must be taught how to think, not what to think.” – Margaret Mead

Every child must have an equal opportunity for quality education. That is the first stepping stone in building an informed and aware society. This vision of the Foundation is sought to be fulfilled through its umbrella project for education called “Vidyarthi”.

Child education is one of the most important aspects of project “Vidyarthi”.

Every child has a right to education. However, many parents do not send their children to school due to socio-economic reasons and a lack of awareness. At CKSF we persuade such parents to send their children to school, highlighting the long term benefits to the family.

Children who are going to the government or municipal schools are given coaching classes by tutors and teachers appointed by the Foundation. Classes for the children of Balmiki Colony, and of Indra Colony, are held in the MMTC Housing Colony in Adhchini. The children get this crucial support free of charge.

School course- books, note-books, stationery and other educational material is also provided to the children and students free of cost.

The Foundation strongly believes that the children should derive joy out of learning and therefore advocates the use of latest technological aids and activity based learning to encourage independent and critical thinking, among the students.

Special ‘Spoken English and Personality Development’ classes are held for the children of classes 9th to 12th in order to equip them with the essential communication skills which are required for advancing their career.

In order to help the students make informed career choices, counselling sessions are conducted at regular intervals, disseminating information about the plethora of avenues available in various fields.

Project UDAAN

“Creativity is intelligence having fun.” – Albert Einstein

Children need to have fun in their day. This fun nurtures their intelligence, their creativity and also addresses their emotional needs. Often children miss this essential element of life, between school, homework and daily chores.

At CKS Foundation we launched a project to give them a space to explore their creativity and engage in activities of their choice. ‘UDAAN’ lets them take flight, without judgments or restrictions. Through theatre, dance, music, artwork, crafts, creative writing, photography, film screenings and storytelling the children learn more about themselves and the world they inhabit.

Educational tours, visits to places of historical and cultural importance and picnics are organized regularly to encourage experiential learning.
